March 29, 2008, Hobcaw Plantation Ride

"The Lord has done
great things for us, and
we are filled with joy."
Psalm 126:3
GREAT ADVENTURE FELLOWSHIP
                                 Hobcaw Plantation
A small group of GAF riders met Saturday March 29th at the Hobcaw
Plantation in Nesmith SC near Kingstree.  Our ride was hosted by Robyn
Stephenson.  She had invited the fellowship to come down for a day ride. It
was a great day for an early spring ride, not hot and not cold, just right.  Our
horses thought we had brought them to grass heaven.  They all had to have a
few nibbles. The fields were bright with the bold greens of spring.  The
flowers are blooming in sunny yellows, bright whites, and pretty pinks.
Along the trails we were joined by large birds that lived in the tree tops.
Some of the horses were a little unsure as the birds soared overhead with
their huge wing spans. When we arrived in the swamp area we saw the
amazing architecture of beavers. They had built long intricate dams to hold
back the cool spring water.  We were all blessed to enjoy God’s creation.
And God said,” Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds:
livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals,
each according to its kind.” And it was so. Genesis 1:24
Robyn had chosen the Kingstree Animal Shelter to receive our gifts of
appreciation. She in turn had a special treat for each of us: homemade frosted
pound cake.
Just as the breezes began to cool, it was time to say our goodbyes til next
time.
